I have always thought the Daily Mail was only fit for burning, but now it doesn't seem good enough for that even.
I have successfully laid fires in the grate for nearly 60 years, and always used newspaper and wood.
This year I have found that the Daily Mail paper does not burn long enough to make the kindling catch.
If you scrunch it up it just smoulders with no flame.
Does anyone know if it now contains a fire retardant?
Is anyone else experiencing this problem?
Perhaps my house is really damp!
Arson is not my forte!
